Supporting clients when they move house

Many clients find themselves moving into a new home without any flooring, curtains, white goods or furniture.  For some this is a really difficult time which causes unmanageable debt and stress.

This month we were asked to support a family who had debt and very little income.  When we visited, we discovered that they had no furniture, curtain rails, curtains, or carpets and that their oven was unusable as it was not fitted.  We messaged some of our supporters and have managed to fully furnish their house and a grant from The Rope Trust has enabled them to get carpets fitted.  Earlier this week we dropped round the last of the furniture we had collected and took an electrician to fit their oven for them.  They are now able to cook and sleep on beds for the first time since they moved into their house in February.  We will continue to work with this family offering debt. employment and budgeting support.  Our amazing team of volunteers means that we can offer our professional services alongside friendship, care and a listening ear.  Knowing that people care and are there to help them through a difficult time can often make all the difference to people who are struggling.
