July 2026 Newletter

As we approach the long summer holidays, we are looking at ways to support the families we work with. Holidays are often hard for families who might have to organise childcare and find things for their children to do. Many of our families get free school lunches, so holidays mean buying more food and finding  extra travel and other costs for activities which can tip a carefully balanced budget.

In the past we have given families extra food parcels or Tesco vouchers. We have also funded days out. These are all funded through our relief fund, and thanks to the generous support of our donors, we can provide practical help to families when they need it most. Whenever we give a gift from the relief fund, we always explain that it is funded by local Christians. It is a great way to show families that people do care about their struggles and that they are not alone. If your church is in our catchment area and is running any summer activities for children, then do let us know as we would be happy to tell local families about it.

In addition, we can now refer eligible families to The Holiday Charity, which offers free short breaks at Hoseasons holiday parks for low-income families who have not had a holiday together in the past four years. The package includes accommodation, a food voucher, and help with travel costs. Recently, one family enjoyed their first-ever holiday together through the scheme.

Did you know that SCPA teaches children in schools how to manage money so they stand a better chance of making ends meet when they have children of their own? You can look at our latest school news here.

If you would like someone from SCPA to speak about our work at your church, please do get in touch. If you feel called to volunteer, simply reply to this mailing – we need support in many areas including fundraising. And with your prayers, we can do so much more.
