Warmer days are here and those who have been struggling with heating costs should have some respite for a few months (although the situation in the Gulf will increase unit costs for gas and electricity from July). Unfortunately, many are no closer to escaping poverty and may already be dreading the autumn when their costs will once again rise.
At Suffolk Coastal Poverty Action, we continue to do all we can to help everyone who is referred to us. Even with 32 volunteers and 4 part-time paid members of staff, we find it increasingly difficult to meet the growing level of need.
To improve our efficiency and respond more quickly, we now triage all referrals. This allows us to assess needs promptly and provide the right support without the delays people often face. This approach has been working well and we regularly receive heartfelt thanks from those we help.
If you would like someone from SCPA to speak about our work at your church, please do get in touch. If you feel called to volunteer, simply reply to this mailing – we need support in many areas including fundraising. And without prayer, we can do nothing. As we approach Easter, we remember and celebrate what Christ has done for us. He is with us always and ready to help us as we ask Him how we can serve those in need.
We are so grateful for the faithful support of the many church members, churches and friends across this part of Suffolk who stand with us in our mission to help people move out of poverty and towards lasting fullness of life. Your prayers, generosity and encouragement make this work possible.
We know that lasting change happens through partnership. Whether you are able to volunteer your time, share your skills, or explore new ways your church could work alongside us, we would love to hear from you. If you have ideas, opportunities, or simply a heart to get involved, please get in touch. Together, we can bring hope and practical support to those who need it most.
If you would like someone from SCPA to come and give a talk at your church, please let us know.
With every blessing
The Suffolk Coastal Poverty Action Team
